School Route 830 

Newcastle Transport is always monitoring the reliability of our school services.

We have made changes for students travelling on the school bus route 830 from New Lambton Heights to Merewether High School, via Hunter School of the Performing Arts.

Newcastle Transport will adjust the school bus route 830 to take into account congestion and travel time to make sure students get to school on time in the morning.

From 9 December, the school service 830 will commence 8 minutes earlier from:

• Grandview Rd near Lookout Rd, New Lambton at 8.06am
• Wallsend South Public School, Grandview Rd at 8.11am
• Lookout Rd after McCaffrey Dr at 8.18am
• Alma Rd at Regent St at 8.25am
• Hunter School of Performing Arts at 8.31am
• Pokolbin St near Merewether High at 8.36am

It’s easy for parents and students to check their trip to and from school from Monday 21 October 2024.

Newcastle Transport has created a dedicated school service search function by school here

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…

1. Visit https://newcastletransport.info/plan-your-trip/school-services/
2. Type you school name in the search field
3. Select your bus route to download the PDF timetable that will be effective from 21 October.

Students and parents can also use Trip Planner to plan their trip from home to school. Just follow these steps:

• Enter your location in the ‘From’ field, such as your home address
• Enter your destination in the ‘To’ field, such as your school name
• Set the date and time you wish to travel, e.g. 8.00am
• Select ‘School bus’ under the ‘Options’ tab to see school buses.
• To narrow down your results to only school buses, untick the checkboxes for the other transport modes.
• Look for the school bus icon in your trip plan results.

Ferry service changes

Until further notice, due to operational requirements the following ferry services will not run. 

Queens Wharf to Stockton services:
• Monday to Saturday, 7.30pm and 10.15pm
• Sunday, 11.50am and 7.30pm

Stockton to Queens Wharf services:
• Monday to Saturday, 7.45pm and 10.22pm
• Sunday, 12pm and 7.45pm

Long term bus stop closure at 121 Lookout Rd, New Lambton Heights

Due to the extension of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass bus stop 121 Lookout Rd, New Lambton Heights (2305150) will be closed until early-mid 2025. Please use the bus stop on Lookout Rd, opposite Grandview Rd, approx 270m towards Charlestown Rd.
